For our sex + health issue, which hits stands today, we wanted to do something simple and sexy with emerging queer artists, writers, and activists who have something gay and powerful to say. And what better than baring it all for them to show you what they got? Meet Danik, Jonnybonnyrock and Laura Boo… Photos by César Ochoa.

“Naked Ambitions” continues…

Jonnybonnyrock: Our favourite glitter punk and electro DJ, JBR is known to keep the folks on the floor guessing. He mixes a wild variety of electronica, retro and indie music into a frenzy of beats that are hard to resist. A regular offender at Radical Queer Semaine, Pervers/Cité and Cirque du Boudoir, the mischievous HoMa resident is one of the founders of the infamous yearly blowout, The Monster Ball… Indeed, you might already recognize him as that guy who always has the best makeup in the room. Feel his pulse at POMPe on Nov. 17 for Radical Queer Semaine at the Coop Katacombes, 1635 St-Laurent, 10PM ($5). www.myspace.com/jonnybonnyrock

Danik Yopp (Photo by César Ochoa)

Danik Yopp is the founder of influential style blog Montreal Street Fashion, and currently the host of LEG WORK, an up-tempo Tuesday dance night at the Blue Dog Motel (3958 Boulevard St-Laurent). Featured in the October issues of both RG and 2Bmag—the latter for his Montréal Fashion Week photography— this ex-Bostonian always lights up a room, and not just with his camera flash. Muse, model, imagist, animal activist, and mayhem-maker, you know you are in the right place, the right outfit, when Danik’s lens finds you. montrealstreetfashion.blogspot.com

Laura Boo MacDonald, when not writing articles for 2Bmag, is a powerhouse promoter of all things queer.  Her monthly Thursday night party, POMPe, will celebrate its 1-year anniversary on Jan. 19. With Le Coeur est une Pompe, an events promotion outfit she started in 2010, MacDonald is in full-on fundraising mode to give queer performance art a permanent, non-profit home: “We have to stop just building sand-castles, and create a space for ourselves,” the incisive femme organizer insists. Hot off the success of her Night at the Races collaboration with GayBash Parties, you can catch her wrangling DJs and performers for Radical Queer Semaine, Cabaret Faux Pas, and AIDS Community Care Montréal. www.theheartisapump.com
