Mont Ste-Marie: the best-kept ski secret

More : , , , , , ,

by Boísin Murphy on February 4, 2012

When CBC commentator and comedian Ricker Mercer visited the Mont Ste-Marie ski hill near Wakefield, Québec, it was like a best-kept secret was being unveiled. Boísin Murphy reports from the Gatineau ski hill that doesn’t cater to 450-819 teenagers!

In the Youtube video “RMR: Going for gold”, the famously anti-Harper pundit gets shown the slopes by two lady professionals, only to be shown up in classic self-deprecating Canadian comedy style. Having recently come out as gay following the spate of LGBT teen bullying tragedies in late 2011, Mercer is far more heroic as a critical voice than he is as a skier!

The stunning views and awesome ski instructors make this the perfect place for experts and learners alike. Ten dollar ski lift days (until Feb 8) and close proximity to the quaintest village in the Gatineau Region (with our favorite Wakefield Inn!) make Mont Ste-Marie a secret that is simply no longer worth keeping.
