Bluesfest is Fabulous this Year!

by Jeremy Dias on June 27, 2012

It seems that every year the RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest gets a bit gayer every year. This year, the festival is bigger than ever, with hundreds of acts it has something for everyone, with acts that include electronic music right down to comedy.

Some of the, shall we say, ‘fabulous’ acts include Ottawa’s own The PepTides, featuring front man Claude Marquis and his partner in crime DeeDee butters. The act runs the gamut from electo-synth pop anthems to acoustic ballads. And if you Google them, there is not shortage of racy-sexy photos from a variety of locations.

Back to the stage is the Brit-Canuck Dragonette. A regular at Pride Festivals across the country, she is known for an electropop sound that gets right into the core of you chest. And for those gossips out there, she recently got off touring with the Sugababes, the sexy British female pop band.

The festival also includes a huge number of allies. Among them is Grammy nominated Tiesto. Hailing from the Netherlands, this Dutchman has collaborated with everyone from Katy Perry to Kanye West. And guess what his hobbies include? Raising money for HIV charities both at home and internationally.

Canadian band Metric will also take the stage. The grown-up Toronto-Berlin-Montréal band has really evolved musically, but amongst their music has been a line that has support LGBTQ rights.

The Peptides perform Sunday, July 8, 3pm @ the Main Stage of Bluesfest

The festival is riddled with big names, including Alice Cooper, Our Lady Peace, LMFAO, Seal, Norah Jones, Ms Lauryn Hill, and Beirut.

Bluesfest runs from July 4-15
