With over 15 years as a DJ under her belt, Barbara Bonfiglio, aka Misstress Barbara is one of the most successful figures in the Montréal electronic music scene. After launching her recording career as a vocalist with 2009′s I’m No Human, this local dance maven is back with a second studio album Many Shades of Grey. She’ll perform live at the SAT with The Misstress Barbara Band for the Montréal Jazz Festival in July.

Organizers of Montréal’s International Jazz Festival have been gradually unveiling this year’s line up in the past few weeks with big names like Seal and Janelle Monáe, but they’ve been sitting on a big secret. For the festival’s 33rd edition, the legendary singer and actress beloved by gays around the world, Liza Minnelli, will be back in town after a 6-year hiatus.

The perennial darling of Montréal music royalty, Rufus Wainwright breezed through his home town to promote his new album, Out of the Game, which hits stores April 24. Shawn Thompson sat down with the 38 year-old star at a restaurant in Chinatown, to talk about his newest release, how he came out of the closet, and his always fascinating family.

The new single by American queer trio Gossip brings diva Beth Ditto back to rock ‘n roll after her 2011 solo foray into dance music (“I Wrote the Book”). It’s not perfect, but anything Ditto does is more interesting that most of her contemporaries, so we’re happy queers today.

Rufus Wainwright’s seventh album will be released on April 24. In the meantime, to get a taste, the singer has released the second single “Out of the Game” (the title track) online.

Montréal folk signer/song-writer SIKA (Jessica Valmé) has been underground for months preparing for a multidisciplinary launch for her new album “Colour Your Walls” tonight (Mar 7) at Georges Laoun Opticien, 4012 rue St-Denis, 7pm. FREE.

The openly-gay singer-songwriter and actor from Montréal, Rufus Wainwritght, will be getting married this summer with his long-time lover, Jorn Weisbrodt. It`s a bit of a surprise coming from the artist who, just five years ago, announced that he was not a huge supporter of gay marriage, much to the chagrin of LGBT activists around the world.
