“Mural stickers” are all the rage in Europe right now, particularly in France, but the trend has yet to make its mark on this side of the Atlantic. Guillaume Alberti and Emmanuel Desormeaux are trying to change all that, with their stylish, and often funny, mural stickers, available exclusively online (for the moment).

There’s something charmingly cocky about Andy Rioux, this self-taught interior designer who used to work on cars doing custom painting in his father’s body shop. He grew up constantly rearranging the furniture in his bedroom, (“I never really knew why,” he says) and has always been good with his hands. He applies these talents to TLC-style total make-overs of condos and urban homes in a modern, minimalist style that involves really getting to know his clients.

Overlapping with the SIDIM this year, Montréal-based avant-garde furniture designer Samare will be part of the group show Hochelaga, mon amour at the Domison design space on St-Laurent. The exhibit is a curated commercial showcase for emerging designers, opening tonight, Thursday, May 26.

Once again spring has sprung in Montreal with a vengeance, and arriving with it the post hibernation urge to throw out everything you own and start from scratch again. As if a sign from the gods to do so this May 26, 27 and 28 will be the 23rd annual Montreal International Design Show (Salon international du design de Montréal or SIDIM) at Place Bonaventure.
