Moving memorial for Raymond Taavel in Halifax

An estimated 700 people gathered near the site of Raymond Taavel’s untimely death in Halifax, Nova Scotia, last night (Apr 17) to remember a cherished member of the city’s LGBT community. Nova Scotia Rainbow Action Project’s Kevin Kindred spoke about Taavel’s dedication to non-violence, along with numerous other speakers.

Gay activist and former Pride organizer Raymond Taavel was savagely beaten to death outside of Menz Bar in Halifax late last night. One man is in custody for the killing. A memorial will be held tonight by the Nova Scotia Rainbow Action Project.
